Halogen Sealed Beam Bulbs

Went to buy a new headlight bulb for my l950 Ford. All the store had were Halogen Bulbs H-6006. Wagner no longer makes the regular 6006 bulb. They told me that the amp draw on them was 8.3 each on high and 6.2 on low beam. That looks ok to me.... The lights need some help anyway and
now I am thinking replace them both. Anyone using them and do you find they are better? I am going to use a relay on the high beams.

I use them on mine. Really much brighter. I also run a 6 volt alternator to handle load.

I failed to mention I installed new harness from dimmer switch to lamps and is activated by relay.

They will work fine on the generator, i am running lights of that wattage on the A, with a generator ---and it is only 1/2 the output of your generator

I run them on the 53 Courier, 6 volt with a generator, no problem. Running down the road the ammeter shows 5 to 10 amps charge.

you can get the voltage regulator "turned" up or adjusted for the load of lights, but be careful of overcharging your battery if you do.

Guys I've got 6 volt alternator on my '40 sedan. Think I would have a problem ? Are the H 6006's 6 volt or 12 volt ?

The H6006s are 6 volt. You won't have a problem. Just make sure the wiring is good and the grounds and connections are clean and tight.

I put the Halogen bulb in yesterday, they only had one, another one coming in the AM. I tried it last night, it is brighter. This morning I put a relay on the high beams.
feed the relay with the high beam wire from the dimmer. BIG improvment. Had 6.23 volts at the battery, had 5.97 at the headlight. I figured 1/4 of a volt was pretty good. I am going to get the regulater set up to 7.0 voltls, hoping to get a full
6 volts at the light.

The dim lights only at 4.42 volts without a relay, might buy another one for them.
6 volt cars can run on high beams anyway with out people flashing me.

I had the alternator before the new head lights as I have an electric fan and that draws 15 amps when in use. Only have to use it on 85+ days in slow traffic.
