I'll add a few, just got Vicky road-ready, all of 140 miles on her in the last week or 2. Still "under construction" but driveable. First time on the road (without help!) since I parked her behind Dad's barn in '69:

Re: let's see some pics of those late v8s.
Well I am new here on this forum but I have a 55 Ford Fairlane fordor that is part primer and is a drive as I rebuild . Still has a good running 272 Yblock with a bad leaking Ford O Matic. I am just getting ready to build a 302 and with a T-5 or AOD . Just going with the old skool hotrod theme . No fancy paint jobs but just a good running hotrod like we had in senior hight school ! I will have to get some pictures to post here but nothing pretty to look at right now !

Re: let's see some pics of those late v8s.
Heres my 55', was going to do an air ride setup, but decided to use the money to do bodywork and get her in paint. Going to go with Aerostar coils and lowering blocks in the rear for now. Going to be running a 301" Y-block with "G" heads that have been cleaned up, Isky RPM-300 cam, C4 w/ a manual valve body and 2500 stall. Had her 13 yrs. since high school. Should be fun when she's done.

Re: let's see some pics of those late v8s.
This isn't mine as I am more into Model A's, but I have alot of respect for this guy saving the 6 cyl speed with this restoration. Most would have shoved a 289 or 302 into it. Enjoying looking at the pic's, when I can scan some pic's I will post some of the 62 F-100 Shortbox Unidoby I used to have. Should have never sold that truck. Rod

Looks good Paul, you got headers on the 351 in there? Do tell how. I have a fit with headers on a 302 in my 56.

Re: let's see some pics of those late v8s.
ctfortner; I have Hedman's long tube headers, can't remember the no. but I have it somewhere. The 351 is wider than a 302 (you shouldn't have a lot of trouble finding a good fit), and I had to look through a lot of different styles before finding a set that would fit by the steering box. The worst part was having to modify the firewall to allow room for the down tubes. That gave me necessary clearance, and you don't really notice the mods. I attached a couple of pics of when I was fitting things to a spare chassis I have. I had to put a drop in the cross member to position the motor/trans properly. Paul Selfe.

Just found this site. Great!!! Here is my '62 Galaxie 500/XL Sunliner. She has a 390 4 bbl with automatic trans. License plate is MLKY WY. What else would you call a big white Galaxie? Other than a CD player and electric pusher fan for parades she is original or restored to original, every nut and bolt.

Re: let's see some pics of those late v8s.
BobLove - have to say that in my book that 56 Customline hardtop is the prettiest car I have seen in a photo in quite some time! My dad is still looking for a model like yours only all black...maybe one of these days he will find one.
In the mean time y'all, here is what I am working on in the garage... Don't laugh - she's all paid for and she is my next project. This shot was taken when I was hauling her almost 900 miles from Alabama to West Virginia. Take a look at the motor that will one day run this 55 Ford Sunliner....

Re: let's see some pics of those late v8s.
I took my first drivers test in a '56 two tone blue Parklane. My dad bought it in '58 and used it for hunting trips to Wyoming until 1964 when he traded it for a 64 Ranch Wagon. Being from the Pittsburgh, Pa area, aka the rust belt, when he traded it in it was pretty well rusted up.
It was one of my favorite cars and I would like to find another to add to my garage. This is the only photo I have of it. It was taken as I was headed out to our High School Senior Prom. |

55 Fordor sedan with 292 Y-block, Dual exhausts, dual action fuel pump, Fordomatic, power steering, 6-volt electrical system. Everything works. Clock was converted to quartz movement. Original radio was gutted and retrofitted with modern stereo receiver. Just got rid of OEM tires in favor of new radials.
Been driving this daily for about 30 years. Rebuilt engine in '81 and rebuilt heads again in '92. Still going strong. |

Re: let's see some pics of those late v8s.
Well, here are some pictures of the car I purchased last year. A 70 Maverick you say????????????
The car started life in the late 70's as a purpose built drag car to be in the B/SM class. It originally had a 302 with 351C heads and 4spd top loader crash box (still have the original 4spd). It was participent in the 79 Winter Nationals at Pomoma................80 and 81. I have been the 4th owner since the car was built some 35 years ago, and the outward appearance of the car hasn't changed much, although it now sports a 408ci Windsor with 2spd Powerglide. I am putting the graphics back on the car like it was at Pomona and will run the car on tracks in Southern Oregon and Northern California...................The car has done 9.9's at over 133mph. The first picture is in my driveway, second is 1980 at Fremont Drag Strip, and third is the 408ci motor currently in the car. |

Re: let's see some pics of those late v8s.
Very, Very nice 56, and with the FE and 4spd................great combination.
Have always had a soft spot for the 55/56 customline. A little off the subject, but there was a guy in Portland, Or in the mid 60's with a green 54 customline and 406 tripower, 4spd that was a true stoplight terror......we called him "The Greek". Also had a friend with a very built 312 in a 55 customline. |

A friend of mine bought a brand new, complete 427/ 425 from Ford back in 1963 and installed it in a cherry '55 Customline tudor sedan with a four-speed. If memory serves me, he paid $1,125. for the engine complete, air cleaner to oil pan! That car was unbelievable! At first he left the '55 rear in it until he ripped it out at Island Dragway spilling the contents of the fuel tank all over the track......not good! |

Re: let's see some pics of those late v8s.
Here's the '57 Ranchero I got a little over a year ago.
Some pics after I got her serviced and cleaned up after 10 years of sitting. And the 312. This is what she looks like now. I've been trying to get the body prepared for new paint. It's been a slow process as I've been helping another friend on his '50 F1. |

Re: let's see some pics of those late v8s.
This is wifes car Rosie. She has a 292 w/3 holley 94's, 3speed T85 OD and Tuck and Roll interior. As soon as these 14 in T/A's wear out she'getting Real 15 in chrome reverse tapered wheels with 55 small hubcaps (ones with red background). Just put new VS carbs and 57 dist in runs pretty fair, way more pickup than her 96 six liter pickup did.

I didn't realize I hadn't posted a finished photo of the Ranch Wagon. HRP
