Default Long Stem

Trying to air up tubes that appear to have the "clamp-in style" stems. Trick is to get the air hose onto the stem because of the length of the stem (distance from the hub) and lack of flexibility of the stem to put the hose on. Standard tire pump and my compressor fitting will fit on but don't seem to have a long enough pin to actually open the stem for air. Did find an old bicycle foot pump that, after a lot of jiggling around, will work, but pumps very slowly. Anybody got a quick fix or a better type of fitting I can get that will work?
