Default Name of item please

Anyone know what this contraption is called? Also, should the rod on the top right be bent?

Thanks.

Not that I have seen a real, live one but I think that is the gizmo that goes on the back of the block to work the accelerator on a LHD car. I've only noticed them in pictures of the engine. We use something vaguely similar but much heavier to operate the starter.

It is an accelerator pedal mover acrosser. for want of not knowing the factory term.

It looks like a left hand drive assembly, but something just doesn't look quite right .

Maybe it is just the way the pic is taken, but wonder if it has been dismantled and put back together wrong ?

Yep, that does now look like a right hand drive starter mover acrosser after Synchro mentions it.

Although the bent rod on the left makes it look like an accelerator rod throttle actuator.

A starter button would not need that .

If that is what it turns out to be, I want it! I've had to fabricate a couple of them - fiddly.

It is an early 28 accelerator assembly. It attaches to the back side of the block, at the top. It has nothing to do with the starter.

On closer inspection, it's not a starter mover acrosser. I'm back to throttle mover acrosser.

Thanks to all. Forever4 nailed it with the Ford Garage reference. It has the same bend in the top rod. The car is a LHD May 1928 Tudor. The engine is being rebuilt, so I thought it would a good time to clean up, what turned out to be, the Throttle Control Assembly. Great site.

Just so you know...It is Vince's site ( forever4) and certainly an asset to us all. He has spent countless hours compiling data that adds up to countless years .... thank you Vince!

Also notice that the throttle linkage has two oil holes that should get oiled a few times a year. Also oil the distributor often by filling the oil tube to the top.

This photo has the RHD starter one. I think the pedal breaks off and they get chucked and replaced by a solenoid and button. I think I've only come across one good one.

The gas pedal is a bit harder to replace with fly by wire.

Is this for parts, or a future project?
On the right side frame rail at the bottom of the picture, what is the bracket bolted to the top of the rail?

I can't imagine getting my big feet to and from that accelerator pedal in any safe amount of time.

Wow. How come those guys on the bottom of the world always put everything in backwards and upside down?

But then I guess we DO learn something every day, eh?
