AA/BB Truck rear drum removal tool question
I believe I have a tool for removing big truck rear brake drums mounted on tapered shafts with keys (same design as cars but different dimensions). It is not the KR Wilson tool design, but rather is the widely-used design that is a semicircular forging that slips over the hub, sliding over/into the machined puller groove. It has an axial center bolt that lands on the end of the axle, providing the "pulling" force. I have seen lots (I have two) that fit cars, but never one as big as this. I want to sell this puller, but need to confirm the diameter of the groove in the AA/BB rear hub where the puller would fit. Has anyone got an AA they can measure? This unit has a 2 1/2 inch opening, which would be the groove diameter on the hub. I'm hoping that fits a big Ford truck. Thanks for any help!!

Not sure about the 1928-29 hubs but the 1930-31 and BB don't have a groove.

This could be the tool to pull the pinion off the drive shaft. I don't have access to ours right now to take photos.

I ended up borrowing one of the heavy duty wheel pullers that bolt on the 5 lug-nuts from the Construction Depot where I worked. They work on heavy equipment like Line Trucks and have ALL the toys. Even with an impact wrench turning that puller spindle, I still ended up heating one of the hubs with an acetylene torch. I used a 400F temp-crayon from the weld-shop. Joe K
