Photobucket 3rd party hosting
I have been getting this picture of 3rd party hosting stating to update. My question is do you have to pay this site now in order to see the pictures that people post here?

Re: Photobucket 3rd party hosting
This has been talked about in length already. But yes in short if you want to be able to use your pictures on forums you have to pay then $400 a year. Its the demise of photobucket.

Re: Photobucket 3rd party hosting
Photobucket is now extorting something like $400 a year just so other people can see the pictures they posted.

Count me out! Rather spend $400 on old Iron. I kept getting those messages and had no idea why. What is wrong with the old way????

Re: Photobucket 3rd party hosting
Read an article on another site about this.. Seem PB has 100000 million customers, if they had just asked for 10.00 each they would have taken in 1 billion a year. Seems like a case of greed..
Going to Google, it is free as are many others. |

Re: Photobucket 3rd party hosting
I no longer post my pictures to some hosting site, but can easily post them direct as a thumbnail to this site, or as a thumbnail or 4 different size pictures to Mitch's new VFF.
https://www.vintagefordforum.net/forum/model-a I used to be able to post pictures to Ahooga, but when photobucket changed about 5 years ago, I could no longer post to Ahooga. |

Re: Photobucket 3rd party hosting
I post photos directly from my computer to the forums. Why is it necessary to put them on a photobucket?

Re: Photobucket 3rd party hosting
I feel dumb as a brick. Could someone please explain to me why anyone would use a service like Photobucket when you can post directly to fordbarn and know they will be there as long as fordbarn is around.

It took strain off the FB servers. It allowed people who aren't on FB to view the pictures. It allowed me to post the same pic on multiple pages without having to upload it to each. It allows me to delete a picture if I no longer want it posted (inability to edit posts on FB would mean uploaded pics are up indefinitely). There were perks to it and those who used it a lot had their reasons. Those who think it was foolish had theirs too. In the end Photobucket screwed over a lot of people. -Tim

Re: Photobucket 3rd party hosting
I forgot to mention that I have an Olympus 4.1 megapixel camera, and I set the resolution to medium jpeg. This way the pictures are easy to post without having to downsize them. I like the way Mitch has his VFF site set up to post pictures. It's easy and gives the most selection for the size picture to be viewed.
You need to change the .net to .com for the link to work. https://www.vintagefordforum.net/forum/model-a |

Re: Photobucket 3rd party hosting
Tom, when I try your link it gets this message. I changed the .net to .com and came up with the vintagefordforum link. Is it the same one that you are talking about?

When I copy the address, it shows .com, but when I paste the address here it shows .net. I'll try the copy and paste to Ahooga and see what happens. |
