Backing plate lock washers?
I've assembled several backing plates in the past, but none of them had lock washers.
I just found a set of backing plate bolts which includes lock washers. Has anyone ever seen these before? Unfortunately, I only have one set. |

Re: Backing plate lock washers?
They are thinner than a normal lock washer.
See picture. |

Neil
My Oct '28 parts list mentions only 2 long and 2 short bolts with castle nuts and cotters, no lock washers. |

Re: Backing plate lock washers?
Lock washers and castle nuts would be redundant. Henry pinched every penny. I doubt this double locking would fly with him.

Re: Backing plate lock washers?
Thank you for good information.
However, I remember installing the bolts, castle nuts, and cotter pins before and having to bend the cotter pins to fit in the castle nut holes. If a lock washer or even a solid washer was used before the nut, bending the cotter pin to fit in the castle nut holes would not be necessary. Please comment. |
