Heater Motor Part 2

While researching blower motor for my 54 Ford Victoria I see that most have three wires and the current one has only two ; is the additional one a ground that wasn't considered needed on the original ?

Third wire should be a ground and is usually black.

If you have only two wires on the motor, there are two possibilities--one is that it gets an adequate ground through the housing and the two wires are high and low speed. The second possibility is that it's a single-speed motor with one wire being ground and one being power from the switch.

If it’s a 2 speed motor, the switch will have 3 positions. Off-low-high. What’s the switch? If 3 positions, the third wire is ground. If it’s an on-off switch, a 3 wire may end up being either high or low, with one grounded.

The modern day replacement motors from the repro parts suppliers are all single-speed. There will be two wires on these. Connect the red wire to either the high or low terminal on your Magic-Aire control. The black wire connects to ground.
I don't like the replacement motors. The one I got on my '55 Courier (also converted to 12-volt) rotates slower than the original motor di on low speed and it takes forever to defrost the windshield.
