Re: Worrysome head leak...help!!
OK, all you guys that recommend taking the stud out and sealing the threads. What happens when he finds out the stud hole is not drilled through to the water and it still leaks? I use dental floss because it is cheap and it works in either situation.

Re: Worrysome head leak...help!!
Thanks guys for all your suggestions, tips and guidance. I have drained the coolant system, pulled the stud, cleaned it well and used permatex red on a few of the bottom threads and replaced it. On the top end i followed james' advice and wrapped the upper part of the stud at the head line with dental floss. Torqued the nut down to 55 lbs, and am letting everything sit for 24 hours before adding coolant and start up.
Again, i can't thank you all enough for your help. What has made my model a project the most fun and delightful is having this forum on the "ford barn". The time, money and worry you have saved me is huge. |

Re: Worrysome head leak...help!!
Did you think to stick a wire or screwdriver in the hole to see if the bottom was gone?

Re: Worrysome head leak...help!!
Thanks james, i did and the bottom felt solid, however not positive there is not a small pin hole that could allow the coolant to leak up into the stud base. Will be interesting to see if i solved the problem. Thanks again for you interest and help.
