Default Exhaust/Intake Manifold Spacer

What effects, if any, would the engine have if I put in a spacer between the Exhaust/Intake Manifold and the side of the block?

I am unable to install my exhaust manifold heater cover since I had the motor rebuild. The block was faced in the exhaust/intake manifold area as was TWO exhaust manifolds.

Any idea's?

Effectively none if the spacer does not set up any reversion effects. Port matching is the key there along with a way to pin it using manifold studs or ??. Can the manifold cover be machined a little thinner as an alternate method to allow it to fit.

I was thinking of that Brent BUT as of now, I haven't been able to determine how much I would have to take. Thanks for your response and suggestion!

Can you try two gaskets to see how much you need to take off then take that much off the exhaust heater

Mr. Gasket makes a very thick gasket intended for headers..

Thanks to 1932flathead and 100IH for the suggestions. Have to try that but will be delayed for at least a week while we go to the New England Meet at Lake George.
Thanks again.

Instead of all that work, why not just grind some of the bottom of the heater cover away?

Sorry. I didn't see that was already suggested.
