Default Removal of Oil Pump Idler Gear Shaft

I am trying to remove the oil pump idler gear shaft. How is this done? I see the idler gear shaft is drilled and tapped, Do we thread a bolt into the shaft and use a pull handle to remove? HELP!!!!

A slide hammer with a 3/8 course stud in the end will clunk it right out. Walt

Put a short piece of pipe over the idler shaft, then get a bolt to match threads in shaft.Screw the nut up the bolt, and with a couple washers under nut, turn the nut down & it will pull the shaft out.
