wiring help
hey guys, im installing this harness in a 34 roadster, problem is the amp gauge is the pass through type, so i plan on cold crimping the ends together, but not sure which way to pass the wires through.
on my 50 f1 it has a pass through type, and when i ran the wire the wrong way, the amp gauge worked backwards.. any advice appreciated ... |

Re: wiring help
Take any substantial load, like a headlight bulb or heater motor, or an ignition coil. Put a lead to ground on ground side of the load (actually, either side will work). Fasten another long lead to the non-ground side of the car battery (the negative side if you are staying with the 6v positive ground of the original '34, or the positive side if you have converted to 12v negative ground). Run that lead through the ammeter loop.
Touch that lead to the other side of the load. If the ammeter needle jumps negative, you have identified the load side and battery side of the loop on the ammeter. If the ammeter jumps positive, the correct load and battery side of the loop are opposite of the test rig. Mark the back of the gauge to indicate load and battery side of the loop. |
