Default What we learned...Today

If your changing your cam and are using adjustable lifter don't waste your money on those little thin 3/8 wrenches they sell. I had some given to me and they should have gone directly in the trash.

Good for about two lifters and they round out, my good O'l old thin Craftsman 3/8 ignition wrenches worked just fine on the other six.

Another note on valves and lifters, the new valves I got are of great quality but I did measure they are about .030 longer than my stock ones all 5.080. In my application needing to remove about .090 total off the new valve stem to get some adjustment from the lifter to achieve .015 air gap between lifter and valve. Hope this helps some folks on their project.

Since you had to grind them down anyway you could have gone with solids like the factory.

As the top of the solid lifters wear the gap increases. With adjustable, you can reset the gap.

100% for adjustable lifters. The reasons seem obvious. My quite old Craftsman valve adjusting wrenches work very well thank you !
