Greased the water pump today and the grease pushed the seal out of the housing closer to the head which has now started to leak! Took the grease nipple out and tried to tap the seal back in but still leaks.

Anything to be done to cure?

Stock pump? no rear seal just packing and packing nut,shouldn't grease rear fitting with a gun,remove grease fitting and push in grease with a finger,no water pump grease it has a high melting temp.which helps clog radiator

You should unscrew the packing nut when greasing the rear bushing, especially if it has a rear seal installed. I can't see how the seal could be pushed out though, unless it had too much end play. It only should have about .005" end play.

Just remove the pump and fix the seal.

to try repair a running Model A's serious problem ........
can always make it worse ......
including doing "Nothing".

Take it out, take it apart and see what needs to be done to do it correctly.

Had a look today. The packing had pushed out the front of the packing nut towards the fan. Span the packing nut out and popped the packing back in.There is a rubber 'O' ring behind the nut which starts to squeeze out as I re-tighten, so I guess its tightend just enough to stop it leaking water?
