I did mine myself. It's not very hard to do.

Gerald Thiele in Vernon, TX is the best I have ever seen.
James (Sonny) Lewis in Prosper, TX

A Google search will supply their contact information.

In my state, they would only let me use an antique plate if it was NOT restored.

How would one know if it is restored, or just a well preserved plate?

Frank West, Show the original, register the car and plate, then restore if you wish. Then who is going to question ???

I have, and have seen some really nice original plates. When I went to register my 61 Comet with YOM plates, the girl at the lic office didn’t even know it was legal to do so, took a call to her supervisor to educate her.

The metal tag updating the plate from 1960 really stumped her

So do it. My car has original paint and the un-restored plate looks more at home on it.

Same here. You need to send a picture of both plates and they decide if you can use them.

Looks like a good job, but aren't both plates supposed to have the same number?

i tried to do it once, failed. i tried to use every kind of roller i could find, and even made one from a tp tube, and i could not duplicate the way the original paint sort of flows over the edge of the number just a tad. i just used automotive enamel paint, but could not get it to look real. finally did it by hand with a brush, and... well lets just say i am not an artist
