C&G shows the header seal for your '34 as 40-761440.. 800/266-0470

David,

If you are thinking in terms of a rubber weatherstrip along the lines of what is used on the perimeter of the windshield frame, I believe that you may wish to reconsider.

I am reasonably certain that '32-'36 phaetons and roadsters originally had a top material wrapped round sponge rubber core weatherstrip retained with a chrome-plated steel strip that was attached to the header bow with a series of oval-head wood screws (black-painted on standard models). (Bill Monzo makes an excellent reproduction of the retaining strips - 2 pieces for '33-'34s.)

P.S. With respect, supereal, the C&G part 40-761440 is for a cabriolet which has an entirely different weatherstrip as the interface is between the header bow and the top of the cowl unlike that of the subject vehicle, a phaeton, where the interface is directly between the header bow and the windshield frame.

I wish my rock hard original 33 standard phaeton top would fold. When it finally goes away I will redo the entire car. I just drive it like it is for now. Good to see what is under there. Does that roll go behind the top of the W/S frame, in front or on top?
I have an album of pictures of the car.

Mike,

It goes on the top of the windshield frames on '33-'36 phaetons and roadsters and in front of the top of the windshield frames on '32 phaetons and roadsters.

Thanks DavidG you are such a wealth of knowledge and DavidJ!!

I should mention that 2 owners before me was a guy who rebuilt 33-34 radios, so darn it, he put cowl light on and installed the radio. But the car is a rare standard, 1 horn black w/s posts and frame, black top mechanism, no ashtray.
If I restore the car it will go back original.

Even with the seal the rain still finds it's way in. The car and I always seem to dry though.....
