Default floor shift in f-100

anybody put a floor shift in a 53/56 f-100 3 speed , how did you get around the trans mounted clutch bracket.

I just replied to a guy with the same question for a '54. Since the levers point up it basically cannot be done as is. I tried and failed on a trans on my workbench. The only way that I can see to do it is too convert to a hydraulic clutch like the 57 and up and use a car side cover.
