Looking for help identifying make, model, & year of this old car
My son sent me this picture of an old car and asked me if I could tell him anything about make, model and year, but I have no clue other than it appears to be from the model T era, but not a Ford. Wondering if anyone here can help?

Re: Looking for help identifying make, model, & year of this old car
The car is a Maxwell Model 25. It could be a 1915 or a few years later. I believe they used that windshield until 1917 or so. It was a 4 cylinder car that competed with Fords and Chevrolets.

Picture of the unknown car - and the response that it is similar to this 1917 Maxwell Model 25. |

Re: Looking for help identifying make, model, & year of this old car
Yes John, I have been playing with a 1915 Maxwell for 36 years. It was converted to a Truck by replacing the rear wheels with sprockets and driving a big axle extended from the frame. It's fun to tinker with. They built a lot of Model 25s but few are being restored or driven. A lot of parts show up if you know what they are. The rear ends had poor gears so many were parked or scraped.

Thanks mercman from oz. While the motor is similar to a Model T it only has two main bearings. It also has a float in the oil pan that links to an arm that shows the oil level.

Re: Looking for help identifying make, model, & year of this old car
Yes it was. The eternal "tightwad'" had to own something out of date. They referred to his Maxwell often on his radio shows that ran from 1932 into the '50s with rattles and bangs and all kinds of sound effects. In his TV show (1960 through 1965) and movies Maxwells often appeared, although many different years and models were used.
