Default Removing horn button 1937 ford coupe

Can anyone tell me the proper way to remove the horn button without damaging it on my 1937 Deluxe Coupe. I reworked my horns and they are both working when tested with jump wires from the battery. Some of the wiring has been worked on in the past. I'd like to get the button off to check continuity down to the center post on the headlight / lightswitch body housing and the button contact. Thanks Nate Anello

Nate, Remove the bale from the switch housing below the steering box.
Remove the housing cover, being careful to not get grease on the internals.
The single wire exiting the center tube is the ground wire for the horn. The horn button is attached to this wire, and grounds to the steering wheel when depressed. Check the function of this grounding wire when horn button is depressed before attempting to go further.

To remove the horn rod, remove the spring loaded clip on the bottom of the rod.
The rod will slide up and out of the steering shaft, but will not exit easily if you don't have an open car. If you really need to pull it completely out, which I doubt, you'll need to loosen the steering box from the frame sufficiently to swing the assembly toward the open driver's window.

Thanks Alan, I removed the bale and with my wife's help, checked continuity to ground with the horn button depressed. Checks out good. Now I can run down the rest of the wiring. I do have a good wiring diagram. Thanks for the speedy response. Nate

I was able to get the wiring shaped up and now have two properly working horns. Thanks again for your help Alan. Nate
