front spring repop problem A-5310-A
My early 31 phaeton rode like a 1920 mack solid tire truck ,even running over a shadow was a bump...front was to high in the air also...10 leaf A-5310-A marked on bottom, about 2 to 5 years old, removed 3 top leafs much better ride and lowered car so it looks better also..so my advice DO NOT BUY after market springs ..go to swap meet and find one or take your old spring to spring shop....I did have to shim it under plate about 3/8".

Have had good luck with www.a-springs.com in CT. I think they are the best manufacturer of springs right now

Re: front spring repop problem A-5310-A
Your spring may have been made for an A with a V-8 engine. I bought one of those once and had to take a few leaves out to try for less abrupt jarring like you experienced. I finally bought and installed a proper spring. Remember to check the fit of the spring into the crossmember and use a pad like original.

Re: front spring repop problem A-5310-A
I have replaced many front springs and I believe they are the one's handled by Little Dearborn and they have done well. The last batch instead of being unfinished were painted. I wish they weren't.. as I prefer to do my own.
I can't see removing any leaves out of a stock front spring ( a correct spring) for a stock car. Larry Shepard |
