Default Dipstick lenth

Just did the first oil change on the 60hp engine. Got curious about the dipstick lenth. It appears to have the correct tube in the pan. I checked from top of tube to bottom of the pan, and it is about 3/4" deeper than the dipstick will reach. The dipstick is 13 3/8" long from seat point to end of stick. I suppose when I put 4 quarts of oil in it, it should be one the full mark before running. Just would like to know if this stick is the right one lenth or not.
Going to let the old oil set for a few days in a clear jug to see if any water settles to the bottom. Wasn't real happy with the oil color, but not yet milky looking. Don't know for sure what brand oil was in it when I got the engine.
Thanks, Lee

A V8-60 engine dip stick is 16 5/8" long. This is total length. The sticks I have are approx. 13 1/4" from the tip to taper at handle where it seats in the tube. Yours sounds about right.
