Default which wipers work with tilt windows?

I have seen that the electric wiper I was looking at says it wont let the window tilt. The tilt window is one of my favorite features. What wipers will allow the window to tilt? I am not against a hand wiper. But that makes me think I will have to set up some kind of catch to hold it up. I have three holes in the frame. this is on a 1930 fordor. Not concerned with whats right for the car. Just what is affordable and will offer me just a little rain relief if i get caught in it.

Newport Engineering makes one that will work on your car.

those are pricey. and they list coupe and tudor but not fordor. i would guess tudor to be more similar. but for near 400. I dont ask what greg spends on his stuff after he told me he paid 5000 for his engine and 1900 for the fuel injection system.

I have a wiper on each of my cars only because it is required. I never use them - I use Rainex and rain doesn't bother me.

Hi Mike,

Just one (1) humble opinion, similarly offered many times on past Model A Forums:

I had an operable, functioning, original Model A vacuum wiper on my 1930 Coupe (60) years ago, and also several original, functioning 6 volt electric Model A wipers for my 1930 Town Sedan.

They all work about as well as attaching a large goose feather to a dog's tail, let him face the wind, and reach out to pet him while it it raining to insure keeping his tail wagging. Vacuum wipers almost stop when one accelerates to pass a car while raining.

After calling a favorite knowledgeable Model A parts supplier about the cheaper, new wipers, (the one where the window cannot be opened fully), he was kind enough to let me know this new one that is listed in his catalog is about as efficient as tying (2) goose feathers to a dog's tail.

No doubt "any" type of wiper is best to have on one's Model A, after going before a lawyer and a jury, after an accident in the rain; however, unless one wants to spend over $370.00, Rain-X is about the best Model A accessory since Viagra was offered to seniors who function about as poorly as all of the original Model A electric or vacuum wipers.

A wonderful Model A "Life Safety" feature is to carry a plastic spray bottle of Rain-X windshield cleaner on every trip. Smashed bugs, rain, road grime, whatever ..... especially for occasional night driving.

Just hope this helps anyone in the future looking for wiper solutions and "Life Safety".

I just received a new Bert`s catalog and on page 89 they list an electric wiper conversion for a closed car # a-17671 for 6v and # a-17672 for 12v. Both are listed for $280.00 ea.

HL "They all work about as well as attaching a large goose feather to a dog's tail"

I laughed to tears on that description. I think you sold me on the hand wiper to make the law happy and spend the least time and money. I thought the available wiper blades looked a little simple. and probably ineffective. I have been staring through rain x water beading on my 78 chevy for a while now. I also put it on the wifes car also the mirrors and side glass.

It's been a few years now but I am pretty sure this is the wiper I used on my Town Sedan http://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_mo...tor-cover.html It works great for how much I use it (almost never). It mounts to my window frame and does not impede on opening it. You'll have to wire in your own a switch.

I can try to get some better photos tomorrow if you wish.

Depending on where one lives, rain is not always just a few drops and a sprinkle ......

In our area, with very normal 8" per hour, rain sometimes looks like having one's nose on a flat penny with a cow peeing on this same flat penny .....

A typical goose feather on a dog's tail can only handle about three tablespoons of rain per hour .....but so many inner city and younger uninformed Model A owners today have no idea and could never imagine the intense forceful volume of a cow peeing on a copper penny ......

Rain-X and head winds will repel cow moisture and heavy torrential rain in great intensities while the slow Model A wipers are just smearing a dense and thick coating of water ....

Henry's description is right on. I fully intend to install Newport wipers this winter for many of these same reasons.
