Interesting that it has that spot-light - know any of the history of how and how it met its resting place when you found it?

Good choice and don't let the nay-sayers get to you . I am in the process of bringing a 34 back to life that had been used as a toilet by raccons-possums or whatever and the floor -subrails were SHOT to say the least . Frame was toast also . Oddly enough the axle assys etc were fine ? I had another NICE frame that was close [same month] as the crappy one so that cured that problem and a NICE floor - subrail assy from a 34 sedan cured that problem . Not trying to tell how to do this but a junk 35 sedan that had laid on it's roof or whatever would be a floor - cowl donor and that would get you into just patch panel land in one swipe . Frames are easy to find also and yours may be weak . The reason I tackled the 34 is that many here were laughing at the poor thing calling it worse than junk etc . I started to feel sorry for it and it is now not so junky anymore . Not on the road yet but it should be my fair weather beater next summer [ give the 33 5w a break ] . I don't know about the love bit but you sure can get attached to these things . I am probably going to get a plate made for mine with "34 RUSTER " to put on the RH taillight . Can't miss an opportunity to rub the nay-sayers now can we . Good luck David J

Nice project car.

As David J said, don’t get discouraged by anyone …it will take some time and a good sense of humor ……but it can be done.

I just sent mine off for upholstery and feel as though I am going thru wilthdrawal.. LOL

Good luck.

Jim

Wow Jim-great job on a great looking car-I can understand going thru withdrawal. By the way-my 37 pick up was in worse shape than Blueblood's or Jim's cars. If I had any sense I would not have done it-but now it is done and fun to drive.

Gotta love those '35's! You definitely have a project ahead of you but determination, time, and lots of hard work will bring that 5w coupe back to life. You will need to determine if you want to make it a high point show car or a nice driver. You can get a lot of help here and on other old Ford websites just for the asking. You may also want to consider joining the Early Ford V8 Club of America, national group and a regional group near you. You will meet others there who are restoring or have restored '35 Fords. The EFV8C/A also sells a great restoration book on the '35 -'36 Fords. Good luck!

Brought this one back from the dark side, but was not as rusty as yours. Just work one week at a time.

I found the secret (for me) was to "walk away" when it became a bit much, leave it for a month or so, then get back into it with renewed energy & a refreshed vision. Always a temptation to sell it when the going became tough, but that's the very time to hang in there. I look forward to seeing progress shots from time to time. As oldbugger says, just one week at a time, & don't stress if you miss a few weeks here & there. Important that you "have a life" as well as the car. Cheers, Peter.

WOW, a complete car! If you paid less than $5 grand it's a steal. Those coupe rear fenders are worth $1,000 alone.

Good frames are reasonably easy to find as the hot rodders toss them.

Add your location to your profile and you might get some locals to help.

Good on you for saving the '35' coupe. That ain't so bad compared to some we see over here. We don't have so many to choose from, so if any of us got a look at that we wouldn't think twice.

Enjoy the process, it's a Zen thing...

Hey Mikey , Y'all noze datz what da eye in da back - O - me head is fer !!!! When da boyz in da white sutz getz too close we paddlez harder . The "ruster" & me are buddies now as it was tired of being a toilet for critters and is grinning about puttin itz noze in da breeze again next spring . You remember the bad mouthing that poor thing got from the spit & polish - check writing types here . Thats why I decided to tackle it as I'm a sucker for the underdog -downtrodden as you know . Besides it was really cheap . Actually this guys 35 5w looks like a perfect candidate for the old floor-cowl transplant . Not a big deal to do and it gets you into pretty much patch panel land in one swipe . Another advantage is on his car if the doors are shot 4d doors work with just a tic of trimming on the upper rear lip . Much easier than 33-34 5w - 4d door swaps . That doesn't work without major surgery .
