Default Any news on obtaining reliable ammeter?

I just received my brand new repop Taiwanese ammeter from one of the vendors. It's here on my desk reading -2 amp.

My buddy just bought one made in China. He opened the box and discovered the needle is missing.

There are a bunch of old threads on the poor quality of repop ammeters.

So, what's the latest on this? Any updated news on where to get a reliable ammeter?

Someone makes a really good one for the Model T, but not for the Model A.

They, along with numerous other new items, are being developed as we speak. No solid time frame yet. It takes a while to source, produce , and ship these things. I will let you know when they are available. Originals are not that hard to fix. Most of them are just dirty. If you have an old ammeter, take a few minutes and carefully remove the cover and most can be made to work and look good very easy.

Yes, I saw Dan's ammeters at French Lick and they are top quality restored originals.

When I converted to six volt sealed beam headlights, I replaced my original, perfectly serviceable Ford 20 amp ammeter with a cheap 30 amp one from Tam's because with high beams and brake lights on and the engine off, the needle on the 20 amp would peg on the discharge side! Other than the background behind the needle pivot showing some brass, the cheap 30 amp ammeter has worked flawlessly! I think it even has a Fort script! maybe the 20 amp meters are less robust!
