Cool 50 ford vin. id. Help

Hello Guys, I have a 50 ford and the vin plate on the firewall is corroide some in the middle- It's B 0 K C( C could be an O) and 7? 4? ( cant read very well pretty sure on these but are they important) 961. It a 2 dr. sedan, vent windows in the back doors, V8, overdrive. I'm getting a replacement title and I would like to be correct. Thanks On the fire wall I read it's there too but it looks like K C 30K439 not even close?? Are they different #'s and is there any other place I could check? Thanks again

The number on the plate is the vehicle's serial number. The number stamped into the firewall is the cowl code. They are different. It looks like your '50 was built in the Kansas City plant with a V-8 engine. The serial number starts with B0KC - this means B for V-8 engine, 0 or zero for model year, and KC for assembly plant. The remaining digits are the specific serial number - it should be at least six digits. The s/n can also be found with some investigating on the frame. It appears on the frame or cross member beneath the coil on the right hand side.

Cowl codes are hard to decipher because the stampings are inconsistent and hard to read, plus they changed during the model year. KC again is the assembly plant. This should be followed by the body code. Your car sounds like a Custom Deluxe Tudor, so following the code there should be a body code of C70 or 70B, depending on when it was built.

You mention "back doors". Is it a Tudor or Fordor?

That is possibly the correct number. Definitely a "KC". Typical numbers start with B0KC1000001 for the first V-8 at that plant for 1950 model year. Would still be good to try to find the # on the frame rail.
