Default Door sill numbers

I found the initials NK686 stamped into the wood sill of a 1930 Fordor sedan. Is there a list of the factory initials that would tell me where this car was built? Thanks

Ed,
These are production numbers for each of the 32 U.S assembly plants. The letter portion indicates the specific assembly plant (NK being the Norfolk, Virginia assembly plant).
We think the numbers are by body type and began with number one in late 1927 and then reverted back to number one with the introduction of the 1930 cars. We see these numbers mainly on the Ford built bodies but they do appear on some of the Briggs and Murray bodied vehicles. I believe there is a list of most of the plant letter codes on both the MARC and MAFCA web sites.

Ed, I'm sorry. I was scrolling on my phone when I read your question and in my mind I was thinking door post for some odd reason. Dave is right, and I was just brain dead on that. Sorry!!

Thanks Dave and Brent, I am bringing the car out to sell at Hershey. I love knowing the history of the car when people ask about it. This on still has the original horn and wiper with it. Thanks again.

Ed,
The wood sill where the NK number is stamped is also original to the car. There might also be a body tag on either wood sill or the firewall.
