Block identification
Can anyone definitively tell me what year this block is and how to know for sure- given the Babbitt I know it is before 1936 but I'm not sure what exact year. I was told 1935 but I am not sure if that's correct.

Re: Block identification
This is a good thread for ID of the L-head V8. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...5301&showall=1
It's and oldy. Narrow babbitt main bearings looks to be in the 33 to 35. The 32s had different coolant drains I think. It should all be in that thread. |

Re: Block identification
yes 33-34 not 35. The 35 block is the first year of the front vent tube in the lifter valley. The block would have an opening in the oil pan rail for the vent that has a cover as part of the oil pan. The 32 and maybe very early 33 block have threaded opening for the coolant drain petcocks that are vertical. The 33-34 engine blocks are identical.

Re: Block identification
1935 was a change over year so there are likely early and late types. The LB block came out mid year in there somewhere.
