Oil Preasure Without fuel pump Rod
Help: I'am looking to buy a 59 AB engine that was rebuilt and run a couple of thousand miles with a an electric fuel pump. They left the manual fuel pump rod out. They said it had some oil preasure, and run just fine. My question to this board is would this motor still have enough oil preasure being run without the manul pump rod to prevent harm.???? thanks David

Re: Oil Preasure Without fuel pump Rod
It's probably fine. I would not put much value in the "rebuilt" claim, unless you can hear it run and do a compression check on it. Rebuilt means different things to different people. What is he asking for it?

Re: Oil Preasure Without fuel pump Rod
There is NO pressure lube to the rear cam bearing. There is no pressure there to lose. It has no effect on oil pressure if the rod is there or not.

Thank you for your comments and knowledge. The motor is undervalued and has not run for a dozen years. David
