I need someone to look at my 1931 Deluxe Coupe and give me a valuation.

I know what the "books" say; that's not what I need.

Looking for someone local to the Bridgeport, CT area that has some expertise.

I'm willing to pay for time, but I'd like to get someone local so I'm not paying for a five-hour round trip. Had someone to fix my mom's theater organ, but the cost to have him walk in the door and walk out was more than the organ was worth.

I can't drive the car to you, so I need you on site.

Hello Steve, you do not need to get someone to come to your house. I am also looking for a Model A (in Florida) and I look at the following sites on the computer each day for that right car: ebay motors, Autotrader, Craigs List, Model A Ford Club of America classifieds, Hemmings Motor News, Classic cars. com, Model A Restorers Club, Car Gurus, Oldride. Also look at the dealers: Volo Auto Museum, Gateway Classic Cars, Harwood Motors, Orlando classic cars, Classic Cars of Sarasota, Vanguard Motor Sales, Peters Motor Cars and Tom Mack Classics. These are only the tip of the iceberg!

You look at the descriptions and form an opinion if they are the same as yours or better or worse. Take an average of the prices you see, throw out the lowest and the highest and there your are, you have a feel for the market. I generally feel that the dealer prices are 10-15% higher than retail. Good luck. By the way, I grew up in Wethersfield and was a salesman calling on United Illuminating Bridgeport Harbor Station and Southern CT Gas Company. I can tell you it is more fun to be retired! Write your local club for help. Join it ASAP too. But I am sure they will help also if you aren't a member. Model A guys are great.

Valuation for what, sale, insurance, other? I would like to add e-bay under sold heading. Asking and selling prices are not the same. Differences in the part of the country also effects pricing.

Mike is correct. Anyone can ask any price (and they do ask unrealistic prices in some cases) but the sold prices will show the real picture.

We have to assume you are looking for someone to give you an appraisal for value. Automobiles like the model A are not easy to appraise since the values vary from place to place and depend a lot on condition and other factors. This is why a lot of folks opt for the auto auctions like Barret-Jackson but we all know that those can be influenced by a lot of factors and not necessarily a good place to find the going market value. The market for antique autos is fickle sometimes. Their should be an auto appraiser in the Bridgeport area but you may have to look a around a while.

I've looked thru all the non-dealer websites suggested and found all of one car that appears to be comparable, so not much to come to a conclusion.

well if you can provide the info, we can provide a good close range. inside and outside shots and mechanical condition. does it have a clear title?

can get to within 1000 bucks of value.
