Hi Mark, I have a southwind in my 29 tudor. But it has been converted to a "hot water" heater. Coiled copper tube with electric fan. The car is stored right now, but can try to get pictures if you need. Jeff

I had a Southwind in my '29 sedan. Mounted it to the angled top portion of passenger side floorboard as did not want to drill firewall. Worked great. It does not have to be mounted exactly vertical. Vacuum from WW port on intake.
As far as the pickup tube on the carb., just a little hole in top of the Tillotson did the trick. However I wanted to run my zenith carb. so fixed a U shaped tube to the drain plug on the bottom which ran upward alongside the carb and was higher than the fuel level. The pickup tube can be dunked in the top of that with a small dirt cap if needed.
Used it for years without any problems. I lived in the cold northwest Iowa winters and drove it year round.

Happy Heating
Don

MSMARON, If the one you have with bowl adapter is the one intended for Lincoln Merc. carbs, you may have to obtain the (scarce) emulsion tube that came in most SW installs as the "fuel line kit no. 30". I have never seen the bowl adapter but believe the emulsion tube may be part of it. They will NOT operate without it and have not seen any reproductions.

My 30 Roadster used to have one installed but it was removed before I bought it. Holes are still there because I thought I might later install one. It was installed on the firewall just above the passenger feet.

I seems to me that a heater will interfere with the carb control rod if on the passenger side. If so how do you reconfigure it. I have a very small heater that I may install in my A but am concerned about the rod.
