Default Split valve guide question

Are the split valve guides machined as pairs or are they machined close enough to mismatch the halves? Reason I ask I was digging out some NOS flathead parts in an old warehouse and found a set of 60 hp guides but they had fell out of the box and lay in a pile! Thanks in advance for your help, Dale.

Believe they are matched pairs, but not 100% positive. You might be able to match them up with some careful measuring.

I would plug fit them, wiggle the valve to check for clearance.
IMO, there are too many things- places- to measure.

If you pay attention to the machining marks and the notches where the valve installation bar goes, you should be able to match them up. It will take you some time.

Their interchangable, but I;d never use them. Convert to the soli dguides and valves.

I agree with your Ron !
The 'modern' set is easier to use and less hassle and consistent fitment.

Thanks guys. I agree with Ron also but these are for a 60 hp and I don't think Ford made the solid guides for a 60 did they? Dale

Yes, the 60 never had a solid guide. I made a set for a fellow many years ago, using 1/4 valve stems. Can't remember where the valves came from. I understand ths was a common practice with the midget racers.
