How to remove sheet metal riser from the aluminum fuel pump stand
Hi All:
Any tips on how to remove the short, sheet metal riser (part where the breather cap sits on) from the aluminum fuel pump stand? I have an NOS one and need to take one off that I have. It' seems like a press fit, but it on there pretty tight. Thanks, |

Re: How to remove sheet metal riser from the aluminum fuel pump stand
I managed to get just enough purchase on the lower edge with a punch to push it out. It isn't really designed to be removed and there isn't much to get a hit on. I did damage it slightly and had to dress it with a hammer and a file before refitting it.

They are diecast and not aluminum . They break easy. It also wont take much heat to damage one.

Thanks, all! Did Ford ever offer an all aluminum one? I found one at Hershey years ago? I'll post pictures of it later.

Re: How to remove sheet metal riser from the aluminum fuel pump stand
I noticed when reading these posts on Ford flathead fuel pump stands, that some folks are saying the main cast base is pot metal, aluminum, or die cast. I've always thought of die casting as a process for molding, not actually a form of metal. All of these fuel pump stands that I own, used from '33 to '48, appear to be either sand cast aluminum, die cast aluminum, or some alloy of aluminum. Anyone know for sure?
