Took my Model A to the goodguys friday night drags...
What a hoot! Managed to pass tech inspection cause the tech guy was laughing so hard. Dialed in a 28.07 at 45.7 mph. Made it through 2 rounds of eliminations before i broke out of my time running a smoking 27.89. It was a hoot, and i was such a crowd favorite that they had me run an exhibition run before they ran the funny cars. I havent had that much fun ever.
Here i am lined up next to my neighbors 34 pickup with a 650 horse sbc. And heres my launch |

It is a lot of fun. Some of the SF East Bay guys used to run their A's at the Fremont Drag Strip back in the 1970's.

How about a slowest idle contest in high gear, but you have to put your left foot on the runnin' board to eliminate cheatin' by slippin' the clutch! Stop lights would monitor brake draggin' cheatin'

I did the same thing, except I went up against a modified Model T touring car. We did 1/8th miles drags and I think I did it in about 15 sec. Unfortunately, the T won-but not by much. Had blast though, dad just rolled his eyes.

I ran my 28 A at the dyno shootout last year,
My A made 27.7 Hp first run,did a jet change as it was as rich as,next run made 38 hp at the rear wheels. My boys XR6 turbo ute made 716 HP, we had the highest and lowest HP . Lawrie |

Re: Took my Model A to the goodguys friday night drags...
dynaflash, Congrats on knowing how, and not shying away from having fun!
I was one of those with Ward that night back in the 70's running the quarter mile. We had a blast! However that was not the end of it. Below was me in the current Roadster running the "hill climb" in Reno in 1998. Obviously I was in "stock class". My best time was keeping it in second gear, time slip shown below.

While diggin' through your "stuff" after your demise, they'll say, "Why did he save this dumb orange slip?"
'Cause its a "TREASURE!" Bill W.

So my dial in time was 28.070. Just looked at my licence plate. 28-070. What a neat coincidence
