Default Burns down draft - worth it to install?

So i had a good swapmeet this past weekend, and was able to locate a solid head to cure my over heating problem (cracked head) While i was there i dropped 2 bills on an original Burns down draft manifold with carb and linkage. Is it really worth swapping it onto my stock motor in place of the tillotson up draft?

Generally speaking, when you read era advertisements, a Tillotson was considered a replacement economy carburetor which if you think about it, it will become apparant what you give up with "economy". On the other hand, you are going to flow about 250-275 cfms with a duo of Strombergs on that manifold. The limiting factor is breathing in a 'Banger' motor so yeah, you will see an increase in power (maybe 2-3 hp). Is it worth it? Only you can answer that.

I ran my tudor on the Auburn hill climb several years ago and after a few runs replaced the stock A carb & manifold with a single Burns and a Stromberg "81", the car went up the hill a full second quicker! The following year I replaced the 81 with a 97 and gained another 3 tenths. 2 bills for one today is a bargain.

'stock motor'...is what catches my eye/opinion here.
So the answer is...depends on the condition of your engine. If you have a nicely running engine, I say go for it and have fun with the extra bit of go! But, don't forget that the 'improvement' in intake breathing will be further enhanced/helped by improved exhausting.
