Default 40 Deluxe headlight switch questions...

The headlight switch on the 40 seems to have fallen apart(old original). When the knob was puled all of the way out I only had park lights but then the knob came out of the assembly entirely. I had a spare (Ford) unit on the shelf which I plan to install.

My question is what is the trick to installing the knob with the rod into the other unit I have. I seem to recall that there was a trick to this.

thank you in advance.

Installation is simple... push the rod/knob in to the switch.
It's the removal that can be a tad tricky. That requires pushing a paper clip in to the little hole in the body of the switch while simultaneously pulling the knob out.
