Welcome DAF290, I would love to help you find a good home for your mercury. The folks here are always helping new members as best they can on this board. There are members that can help with the pictures( I have never mastered that aspect of this site myself) Can you give us any info on it, like any evidence of a major collision, does it have all the glass or interior? Cars were parked in barns for so many different reasons. Thanks for giving us here at the barn a chance, Tim

You likely ASS-umed incorrectly. As most of us know, a 'newby' must have a minimum of 10 posts before allowed the privilege of being able to send PMs. Just a circumventive means of satisfying a prerequisite for new members' perks. Coop

I wasn't referring to PMs. I was referring to pictures attached to the thread which I believe are allowed from your first post.

There is 10 posts with nothing in them above, and a comment that the original poster deleted the post. What would you assume?

I see that he has already mastered the 10 minimum posts to send PM's.

And I will say "Welcome" to him as well and just hope he has not been too negatively affected by some of the responses.
Good response

ITS A MERCURY!!!! And family!! Not a common car. I have one the 987 40 Merc Fodor convert sedans. I bought her in 1956, sold her that year as Daddy passed, and rebought the SAME car in 2017. Contact a local club to come see the car. Learn who drive her and what the stories are that she waits to tell you. Give her a name. Be sure to look at the art-deco dash...

I ASS-umed that you read what you said. Well, that made an ASS out of ME, 'cuz I went back four times and cannot find any comment about the OP deleting any posts. I do see a post in the beginning where "Lanny" sent a PM to the OP, and to answer that PM, the OP needed TEN POSTS! Coop

Another 'Welcome' from here.... anxious to hear more about the Merc.... and less negative from some of us here. It's fair to say, I like 40 Merc's.

To be clear here, I believe there has only been ONE negative poster (that I see) in this thread. I certainly welcome the NEW guy, and only got side-tracked trying to defend his posts. Anyway, welcome aboard "Daf290". Lots of GOOD people here, for sure! Coop

Well I was replying to the original poster removing the pictures of the car, because they were worried about someone else poaching it. It doesn't read that way now so either I read it wrong, or it got edited. Get over it.

HI Coop. Looks like maybe it's time to tell The objector like Kube says. " I can explain it to you. I can't understand it for you"

Hey Kirk, that's what he is trying to do and trying to meet his 10 post quota before he is able to do that. Come on Man. Chill it.

kirkf, Coopman has it right.

Last night I explained to Daf290 that he needed to get his post count
up to 10 or more so he could do the PM thing with Members here.
I told him he should post "what ever" he could on This Thread OR
other threads to get his post count up there.

He Never posted any pictures that I ever seen, he simply got his
count up, that's all.

I hope he posts some pictures of the old Merc, and maybe any other
old jewels that might be in the old barn.

"I am not anxious to share details without knowing who I’m sharing with"

My opinion, with all the internet crap out there and being a new member unfamiliar with the many great people on this site I can understand some trepidation posting more info. I'm sure we've all clicked on something only to get barraged by unending ads, emails and even robo calls. Back on topic I'd love to see pics or a video! I like 'em all and especially a great family story.

Just don't get in over your head. When you state that the car is "sunk to the frame in soil", can mean lot's of rust, including frame, floor, etc. Rust = repairs = $$$$$. Pictures are a must for any help on what to do.

Mat at Iron Trap garage on youtube did a series on a rusty merc coupe a while back, that might be a good watch for the OP about fixing a rusty car
