Default mounting a fan on an aftermarket intake

What is the most common way to mount a fan with an aftermarket intake with no front mount on it?

Weiand had a cast baracket that bolted to 4 of the intakemanifold bolts.
I made a copy of that bracket in stainless and beadblasted it to blend in a bit.
I can get a pic of it tommorow if you want.

Speedway Motors has these available for early flatheads; they are made by Offenhauser. I had one that I bought at a swap meet, but it wouldn't fit an 8BA. I think it was because it interfered with the water outlets on the front of the heads.

Works great for a generator but not a fan

Ooops! Missed the "fan" part. Oh well, the generator has to go someplace too.

Electric fan mounted to the radiator.

An old hot rod trick was to cut down a fan mounted generator to essentially keep the front and rear of the generator with about 1 inch of the barrel. You can then use the Offy intake bracket.

There are a lot of ways to get a fan mounted in but a lot depends on what car or truck it is going into as well. Some have generator mount fans, some have custom brackets, and 1939 Delx through 41 use crankshaft mounted fans. A lot of creative fabrications on the HAMB. The model A cars are one of the most difficult due to the small space available.

Dick, What is your plan for mounting the generator?

Got a Weiand( say Why- And) intake with the same problem. Found this aftermarket copy of the adapter, sans holes, that I plan to use to make it work.
But I always wondered why so many of these intakes don’t have the mount on front, racing? Or 39-41 with crank mounted fan?

And then there’s the old school fix.

This is where the resources fullness of the builder comes in. Many of us run into problems that have no commercial solution, so we;re left to our own resorcess.
I run into these kinds of problems all the time and after searching my friends and the internet for answers, I build a mock up, sometimes two or three. Sometimes I solve the problem and sometimes we don't. Bit, that's what I like about the hobby, it works your mind.
