It might turn-out to be a stock color, but Ford never offered any color by that particular name on a Model A...

Hey Tony Martino, I too would never paint a Model A in Robin Egg Blue but my 1956 Continental Mark II is painted in a factory "Light Blue" Remember, "the best bet's a true baby blue Continental!"

In 1959 my Dad had a robin's egg blue 29 Model A. BUT, it was on a 32 frame, dropped axle, the top cut off and a flathead V8 up front. Wish I had it now.

I know this has been addressed at great length, but I thought I would sit down a post a reply while having the Paint & Finish Guide right in front of me...

Here is a list of "official" Model A "blue" paints, from starting with lightest, ending with darkest:

Hessian Blue
Duchess Blue
Chelsea Blue
Niagra Blue Light
Riviera Blue
Gunmetal Blue
Washington Blue
Niagra Blue Dark
Lombard Blue
Andalusite Blue ( Almost black )

( I am looking at this indoors, on a dark, cloudy morning, so I might have some of the darker colors a bit out of sequence. Also, I have not separated by hue, eg: grey-blues vs green-blues vs true-blues. )

According to the P&FG, the only '28-'29 cars with a "light" blue lower body color were the late '28 Tudor 55 A: Niagra Blue light, and the Taxi-cab 135 A: available with Duchess Blue or Chelsea blue, among at least six other lower-body color options.

"Hessian Blue" is the only color that I would casually describe as "Robin's Egg Blue", but it was only offered as a Stripe color, late 1930-1931.

"Duchess Blue" would be the next possibility, but it was offered only as a belt / lower quarter / reveal moulding color, not as a lower body color, except on the Taxi, as noted above.

Here's hint that might narrow it down: ask your friend if the '29 he remembers was all - Robin's Egg Blue, or if it was "two-toned", with another color around the windows or on the upper body ?
( Almost ALL '28-'29 Fords were painted one color on the lower body, with contrasting color around the windows and a third color for the striping on the raised "mouldings". )

If the car in question was "All Robin's Egg Blue", that suggests a custom paint job when new, or a repaint as a used car.
