Default ECH IC7 6 volt coil and 6 volt system

So I’ve read to many posts and I’m getting confused.

Stock 6 volt system with crab distributor.

ECH ic7 6 volt coil with 1.2 ohms resistance.

Bypass the resistor under the dash?

Or is that not enough resistance?

Seems like the resistor under the dash is .6 ohms.

And just to be clear, the resistor lowers the amps? Or does it lower the voltage?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to understand how it all works. And not fry anything

I do not have an amp meter for testing.
