Interaction foot and hand brake?
I'm confused. When I step hard on the footbrake and pull with power the handbrake at the same time, the foot pedal sank 1/2 inch deeper.
I do not understand that. Because both brake pads move and act independently of each other. I think, that is not right. Does anyone have an explanation? Very much advance-thanks!

Re: Interaction foot and hand brake?
Get under and have someone do the brakes. You should see something moving. Your cross shaft may be pulled forward letting your pedal go deeper. Check pivots of both cross shafts.

Re: Interaction foot and hand brake?
If you have an early 28, you may not have independent emergency brakes and service brakes on the rear.
If you only have one brake rod going to each rear wheel, the emergency brakes use the same rear shoes as the service brakes. If so, you may feel the brake pedal sink a little when the handbrake handle is pulled. Chris W. |
