Correct 57-59 Ford Retractable Bumper Jack??
Can anybody please post a couple pictures of a known correct jack for the Ford Retractable car? I would think 57-59 would all be the same , but don't know for sure. Or maybe post of knowledgeable source that I could contact concerning this.
Thanks for the help. Steve |

I never had one for my retractable, and I don't want one. 1) not safe, 2) will bend the bumper in a heartbeat.

I wouldn’t use one either, but I know some want them for show purposes. Someone will chime in.

Here 'ya go-
http://57fordsforever.com/smf/index.php?topic=4048.0 I had some quality photos somewhere. I will be back ... EDIT - ... hmmph ... It seems you have to register at the site to access the factory drawing TECH - TECH DIAGRAMS JACK AND SPARE STORAGE I am not technically advanced enough to copy the drawing ... EDIT 2 - And the SEARCH FEATURE on this site absolutely sucks ... SOMEWHERE in this vast expanse is a thread discussing spare tire storage and contains the photos you need. EDIT 3 -

Kultulz, did your wife look at this site and find your ad to sell encyclopedias because she knows everything, so you had to change it to the hot rod Lincoln blurb?

Re: Correct 57-59 Ford Retractable Bumper Jack??
Yeah, I use AAA too. I’d use a bumper jack on a nice flat paved surface, but I never seem to have a flat in my garage. When I do I use the floor jack. I carry a small scissor jack and a couple pieces of wood to go under it on soft ground and a block between it and the frame. And a couple wheel blocks in case I’m on a hill and it’s the rear tire.
With oversized tires it’s easy to end up in a position where you can’t get a rear tire off. |

Re: Correct 57-59 Ford Retractable Bumper Jack??
Steve, either a bottle jack, a scissors jack (from something like an old Toyota comes to mind). I'm calling a wrecker with a 4x4 and a sling, or a roll back. Cheaper and way less aggravation in the long run that the repairs.

X2 what MIKER98038 stated.
I do have the complete original jack in the trunk of my 57 Ford, but it is just there because I happen to have it. Last edited by Jay in Mass; 11-16-2018 at 05:40 AM. |
