Default Window crank and riser

I have a question about which is the best way to install the 1/8" pin in the model A window cranks. When I try and install the pin I need to install the riser first then the crank handle all while pushing against the spring that is on the crank shaft behind the door panel. Should the pin go in place behind the riser or in front of it. I don't seem to have enough clearance to the pin to line up with the hole in the body of the crank handle.

Are you trying to use reproduction springs. The repro springs are too strong and the wire is too thick. Try to find original springs or cut the repos (what I ended up doing) to give you more room. The spring only needs to supply enough pressure to keep the escutcheon from turning with the crank.

The pin is installed on the outer side of the escutcheon (riser?).

MAC's sells a tool that helps altho a little on the expensive side for one job. https://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_m...oval-tool.html
