Default fuel pump with a priming lever

I was at Road America today and someone had a hot rod with a flathead v8. The fuel pump had a lever to operate it without turning the motor over. It seems like that is a great idea, my 33 sits for weeks sometimes and I usually have to pour some gas down the carb to start it.
Are these pumps still available anywhere?

I haven't see a fuel pump with a priming lever for years. While I use an inline electric pump to prime the carb, a good long spray of starting fluid will usually help kick off an engine that has sit for a long time. Just don't overdo it.

There are some of them on eBay right now, sold I believe by So Cal. The ad said they are French made.

I have one from So Cal that I never used. I think the threads for the fuel line are metric? It does say "Made in France" on both sides of the housing.I'd be more than happy to sell it if you're interested. I'll post some pictures.

Vern Tardel Enterprises in Santa Rosa, California lists them for sale. Check out
www.verntardel.com and [email protected]

Fuel Pump Assembly
These brand new aluminum fuel pumps were originally made by the French military to be put on service vehicles. While they will work and bolt-on like a stock Ford fuel pump, they also come equipped with a primer on the side. This small hand priming lever is perfect getting fuel back in the line after your car has been sitting so that you can start on the first spin rather than killing your starter. All fittings are metric and need an adaptor for standard fittings.

Last time I was in the UK I called into see Gary Belcher at Belcher Engineering Ltd,( Google Belcher Engineering Ltd )they do a lot of work on old Fords . They had boxes of NOS pumps with the hand primer, they only fit the intake with the tall pump stand.

My french Ford V8 Vedette 1953 has one as standard. Think its called "Guiot". You can buy them through the Club Vedette France, or at Techni-Tacot.

It enables me to manually pump gas, fx after driving tank empty.

Thought it was standard on all Ford flatheads…

Don't miss out on the brilliant flathead improvements created in France!
