If you had the money which Ford?
On the Early V8 site a very nive '40 Mercury 4 door convertible is for sale and I think he is looking for 50 large or better.Very nice car but it just got me to thinking how far down the list it would be if every Ford I want was exactly what I had to spend. My top ten list would be: '32 Roadster B or V8. '32 5 window B or V8. '46 Sportsman. '39 ford convertible coupe. '37 woody wagon.'46 Ford woody wagon.'31 Model A deluxe Phaeton(tudor) '30 or '31 Roadster pickup. '33 or '34 roadster. '37 roadster or cabriolet. Anybody else got a top ten? I could easily make out a top 25 and I don't think a 4 door convertible would be on it. I also love '53- '56 Ford F-100 and am trying to buy back a '53 I sold over 25 years ago that has not moved from when I drove it into buyers garage.

Re: If you had the money which Ford?
As a non-customize street rod type, the bad-ass looks factor determines the priority. In order:
1 - '34 five window coupe 2 - '40 Super Deluxe coupe 3 - '32 five window coupe 4 - '37 Tudor slant back 5 - '41 Super Deluxe business coupe (early model year, without the extraneous chrome) To achieve maximum bad-ass, it must be black and sit with a 2 - 3" rake. |

Re: If you had the money which Ford?
I had wanted a '36 3-window since I was in high school. I finally found one and finished it they way I wanted. Be careful of what you wish for. I found the car to be very cramped and sold it after about 8 years "Wishin' and Hopin'"

My dream car is a 32 3 or 5 window coupe. Has to have a Flathead or Hemi, manual trans, Quick Change rear. Not a perfectly fitted street rod but a driver. I WISH!

'34....All body styles....Except, I would reject any 'Ragtop'....
And, NEVER a '38 Deluxe or a '39 Standard! - These two models were born in Hell with a gasoline can tied to their bumpers. '38 Standard and '39 Deluxe are just fine....

37 cabriolet, with stock engine or 59AB. Excellent comfort riding, east of repair, plentiful parts and a excellent handling vehicle.

Re: If you had the money which Ford?
I could never say a particular year or style Ford - it would have to be a car that speaks to me. I have all ready been very fortunate to own a really nice 40, my avatar, I have a 40 pickup for the wife coming together, a 32 5-window I have a build thread on the HAMB of, and then there is a 28 pickup I will put together just because.
However, if I HAD to choose, of course it would be something I have not owned and that would be a 36 cabriolet or 3-window. The art Deco styled look of the car is just a one of a kind look. Of course a LaSalle grille would be nice along with an Ardun under the hood but now I'm really pushing it! |

>>>any 34 ford except a convertible>>> Geez. OK, I take a 34 convertible. And a 33 convertible would be good too. Plus a 33-36 Willys convertible while I got the money. Jack E/NJ |
