1939 Tudor 8BA & T5 questions
I have. '39 Tudor with a Flathead. I am wanting to putmin a t-5 5 speed. Has anyone done this? I have done a search and found nothing. What is needed? My main concern is how it ill fit/mount in the frame.

Should work fine if you convert to an open drive line. Some time ago Flat Ernie was working on a t5 to closed drive line adaptor. I don't know if he finished that or not.

I have one. you have to split the wish bone, make a new trans mount. I sell the adapter kit. H&H Flatheads. And change to open drive shaft.

I did this conversion in my 39 Tudor. the center X member brace has to be replaced and the wishbones split. I used Chassis Engineering's kit. If the body is not off you will have to cut the floor. Go to www.5speed.com. They will tell you everything about the non-world and world class T-5's. The adapter I used was bought from a guy right here on Ford Barn, Krylon32. I forget which is his rod shop but his kit was vastly more simple than one I ended up returning to Honest Charlie's. He's a good guy to do business with. The above post is right; use one out of an S-10 for correct shifter positioning. Some complain about the low first gear ratio in my trans but it works fine for me with a 3.70 rear out of a Granada. I paid $100 apiece for two and have one set back for a future flathead project. I've test driven the car only so far but it seems to work well and I don't foresee any bugs coming like I do with some other systems on the car. The 8ba may give you some problems with the drag link under the pan. I used a new Saginaw steering box and the clearances between the drag link and pan seem awfully tight. I think if I did it over again I'd go with the stock box. You may also have some header fit problems. Again, a stock box may have alleviated this.

Nope, never finished. All my car stuff is on back burner - life keeps getting in the way.

I used Chassis engineering,split kit with the t-5 adapter kit from Speedway. You can remove the center x member from underneath the car and with out cutting up the floor pan! I had no problems with mine! just takes a little time and patience to grind out the rivets. This is by far one of the best modifications one can make to an early Ford!
