Default Testing 12V generator output

The 8RT in the roadster has an original 6V generator housing converted to 12V. Where do you measure output of the generator. There are three terminals. There is a large one at the back, which I assume is Armature, and two on the side, the one on the top is marked F for field and the one below that is marked G for ground which I grounded to the regulator. Thank you.

Why not put volt meter on battery to see if it's charging?

There are 2 outputs that need measured ---volts and amps, volts are measured at the battery with it fully charged, or with a 1/4 ohm resistor in series with a battery cable to simulate a fully charged battery, then amps have to be measured, the regulator has to limit the amp output to a safe amount to protect the generator --for this a load is placed on the battery to make the generator max it's output, the regulator is adjusted to five the proper outputs, the adjustments need to be made with the cover off, but checked with the cover on because of heat changing the settings

Thank you for the suggestions. Can you measure with the voltmeter across one or two of the terminals on the generator ? How about measuring output from the regulator with a load on the battery like the headlights on ?

This is the first thing I'd try. Simple & easy test. If the voltmeter indicates 12.6v or more at the battery terminals, esp with the headlights on at a fast idle, the generator is likely OK.
