34 Roadster Outside Door Handle
Could someone with an original 34 roadster please confirm the proper installation of the roadster outside door handle escutcheon? Ed Solari and I are both restoring a 34 roadster simultaneously and we are a little perplexed as to the correct positioning of the escutcheon. If you look at the attached photo of the roadster I’ve placed a red arrow over the door handle because it looks like the escutcheon is actually slightly tilted forward and it appears the upper screw hole is forward of the bottom screw hole and the screws are not perpendicular. The other attached photo is the inside of an original roadster door and it also looks like the screws are actually offset. We re-skinned my roadster doors and I didn’t make a note as to the positioning of the escutcheon screws. So could someone please let us know if the escutcheon is tilted or perpendicular and photos would be greatly appreciated. It’s funny I’ve gone through 100’s of archived roadster photos and some of the escutcheons screws look tilted and others look perpendicular.

Re: 34 Roadster Outside Door Handle
These may not show clearly enough what you need, but I'll put them out there, maybe they'll help. The first 6 pics are Butterfield's handles, by the way.

Re: 34 Roadster Outside Door Handle
I have seen them like yours as well as in direct line to the door edge ,I thought only the phaeton was like yours so the rear door matches ,Others may chime in .

Re: 34 Roadster Outside Door Handle
Ted yours look like they angle the opposite direction but you're on the opposite side of the earth to us so maybe you're spinning the other direction. :-)
