Default 56 Victoria Wiper switch removal

Hi,

I was wondering how to get the wiper switch out. I've removed the vacuum motor and now would like to get the switch out.

I'm going to order the newport kit and I'm wanting to take the old switch out to see what I will have to work with in the dash for mounting the new switch.

Thanks

the knob should remove from the switch with a very small flat blade screwdriver. There is a set screw on the bottom of the knob. Once that is removed, you will need one of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/55-56-57-50...0AAOxygo9Q8yYT

Note how the tool can slide over the shaft and the teeth engage the chrome retainer. Back out the chrome retainer and the switch will pull out from the backside of the dash.

May I suggest you look at this blog post concerning the Newport electric motor? I would think you may find some helpful info!

Thanks. The tool looks essential. The seller of that particular one does not ship to the bottom of the world. I might have to make one from a socket.

Read your blog too. Newport wipers seem to be a path well trodden.

that same tool also is used to remove the ignition switch retainer and headlight switch retainer. Every '55/56 Ford owner should have one unless you want to bash up and mar the chrome plating with a thin, flat blade screwdriver.

Newport has an option so you can use the stock switch and knob. I have it in on my 54.

Made a tool by hand with a file out of an old tiny socket. Works well. I got it out without scratching it up so I'm happy. Cheers for the advice.
