Re: Transmission swap
The Ford-O-Matic was a single range 3-speed but a lot of folks refer to them as a 2-speed since they start out in 2nd unless you pull the selector into low. They were used in light duty applications until the aluminum case Ford-O-Matic 2-speed came out in 1959. These 2-speeds were developed for use behind the 144 and 170 CID Falcon and Comet 6-cylinder engines.

Re: Transmission swap
Raman and rotowrench you are correct. It only shifts once unless you drop down to low gear at takeoff. Problem is starting out in drive it won't shift. We have reworked governor and throttle with no luck. I think there is a lot of wear in these parts and better ones are hard to find. We have been trying to make a good tranny out of 2 poor ones. I will be very happy with a C4 which is the route we are going.
Thanks for all the help. Sent from my SM-T550 using Tapatalk |

Re: Transmission swap
Got it working. Shifts a bit erratic at some different speeds, I need to back off the throttle a bit then it shifts. Kind of like a manual with overdrive.
