Default Starter Switch?

Ok, so I did a search and found threads about starter issues. Seems like my starter switch is bad. Starter sometimes remains spinning after car starts. Also, starter sometimes keeps cranking even if I release lever (I have one of those hand levers instead of foot button). I do have a shutoff, but when I turn back on, of course it starts cranking again. I can see that the switch rod does release when I release lever, so it guess it is an internal contact issue?Could it also be a problem with the starter itself??

Most likely a weak or burned contact spring. I use a good strong original spring contact, even if I need to restore the housing. File away any rough or burned areas.

Take the switch off and fix it. Not much in there. Most new ones are good if you need it.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will order a new one. Looks fairly simple to replace.

I would follow Tom's advice and find a used original Ford switch. The new ones are junk. Spring is soft.
